Terms of Service
Rest assured, your satisfaction is our first priority. In fact, we treat your laundry as if it were our own, however we still need to agree to some rules to ensure that there are no misunderstandings about Scrunchy Mama Laundry (referred to as "we," "us," "our", or "Scrunchy Mama Laundry") or your obligations. By using our service, you acknowledge and accept the following Terms and Conditions.
Wash-and-Fold Laundry Terms
Suitability for Laundering
By using our service, you agree that your clothes are suitable to be machine washed in water, on a normal cycle, and dried using medium heat in a tumble dryer. We cannot be responsible for any damage to clothing that is not suitable for this standard machine laundering process. Similarly, we reserve the right to refuse to service any contaminated items or items containing any hazardous chemicals or industrial residues (automotive chemicals and waxes, greases, fiberglass, flammable liquids), excessive biological waste or any communicable disease (blood, urine, feces, vomit), or infestations of any kind. We can not guarantee complete smell removal if your clothing comes from a smoke or pet- friendly home. Also cannot guarantee complete pet hair removal, especially if excessive.
We cannot accept items that may pose a risk to the health and safety of our team and/or the items of other customers cleaned in the same location.
If any of these items are found in your laundry, it will be returned un-laundered and you will be assessed an unsanitary fee of $25.
Damaged Laundry
We will do everything we can to avoid damaging your laundry. Unfortunately there are limitations to what we can do. For example, we don't have time to check your pockets to see if you have left anything in them. Therefore, we can't be held responsible if something left in your laundry (like lipstick, chewing gum, ketchup packet, or a pen) causes any damage. Similarly, if you call and tell us that you left your favorite bracelet, or anything else, in your pocket, we can’t guarantee that we will find or return it. Please take care and look over your items and remove anything that shouldn’t be laundered before pick up.
All laundering processes, regardless of how gentle, cause normal wear and tear on clothing. As a result, we cannot be responsible for any wear and tear of laundry, including loss of buttons, fading, fatiguing, holes, or abrasions. Similarly, we reserve the right to decline cleaning any particular piece of laundry if we think it will lead to trouble.
Cleaning and drying laundry also creates other risks. We do not individually examine every garment and it’s care label prior to placing it in the laundry. Therefore, if something is "dry-clean only," or otherwise unsuitable for our standard machine washing and drying techniques, please do not include it in the laundry you give to us. If something needs to be hanger or air dried instead of machine dried, please be sure to bag it separately at pick up and note in your order for our team.
After separating lights and darks, we wash your items according to our standard procedure. Note that we do not separate clothes according to your instruction, and ask that you do the separation and include notes under the “Special Instructions” for each separated bag in your order (example: bras to be washed in mesh bag on delicate cycle, white sheets in hot water with oxy boost) and take responsibility for what's in each load. Along the same lines, we can't be held responsible for the re-disposition of colors (aka bleeding) or dimensional changes (aka shrinking or stretching). It hasn’t happened but if an item is damaged in our machine, it will need to be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Lost Laundry
We would love to be able to inventory every piece of laundry you give us. Unfortunately, it is cost-prohibitive for us to do so. As a result we can't be held responsible for any lost laundry; we simply have no efficient way of verifying that we actually received any particular piece of laundry in the first place.
Rest assured though, we carefully track your clothes. For instance, we tag all our bundles with your name, and your clothes are never loose in our facility unless they’re inside a machine, in their own labeled and designated hang dry area, on the folding table, or in their own laundry cart waiting to be folded.
It hasn’t happened yet, but if you do believe you are missing something from your delivery, please notify us within 24 hours of receiving your clean clothes — we are much more likely to find misplaced laundry if it is reported early.
General Terms for All Services
Scheduling and Payment
You can schedule your appointment through our website by clicking here. You’ll receive notification once we confirm your selected date and service. Weekends can be busy, so we recommend booking ahead. A $20 deposit is due at time of booking to hold your spot. This amount will be funded towards your order total upon invoicing. We require at least 2 hour's notice for residential pick up or drop off changes. If you reschedule while we are en route or your pickup is not present, you are subject to the $10 Missed Pick Up fee, as we need to cover our drivers time and gas.
Although we truly hope you are satisfied with our services, once we have laundered your clothes, we cannot offer a refund.
We weigh orders by the pound on a trade certified scale at our location once dried and folded, or hung. Customers can request that their bags be weighed in front of them, with the understanding that the weight may vary by .0-3.0 oz with a non-trade certified mobile scale. Of course we don't anticipate having any problems with our customers refusing to pay, but just in case, we reserve the right to hold your laundry hostage until we are paid in full. After 24 hrs, a daily hold fee of $10 will be added up to 15 days. After 15 days, your items may be considered abandoned. We don’t want that to happen!
Minimum Weight, Minimum Fee
You can send us any amount of laundry you choose, but each order will be charged the minimum order amount for the selected service type:
$20 minimum for Fold Only ($1/lb)
$30 minimum for Next Day Wash and Fold ($2/lb)
$45 minimum for Same Day Wash and Fold ($3/lb)
We reserve the right to add an additional 24hrs to delivery time if we receive your order over 100lbs.
Pick-up and Delivery Scheduling
Scrunchy Mama Laundry provides pick-up and delivery as a part of our service. There are, however, circumstances when we may be unable to complete deliveries (like snow, torrential rain, coastal flooding, or major state bridge infrastructure is found to be deficit and travel is significantly delayed to certain areas). Therefore, we will make every best effort to communicate any delays.
We do our best to pick-up your laundry at the agreed upon time. If our drivers arrive for your pick up and your items are not present in your designated pick up location, and we can’t reach you in a timely manner while we are there, the $10 Missed Pick Up fee will apply. If you do miss a pick-up or delivery, we will try to coordinate an alternate time as soon as possible.
To prevent laundry errors, all services must be tied to an accurate order. If we are coming to your house for a delivery and you have additional dirty laundry that you would like to be picked up, please schedule an additional pickup online or notify hello@scrunchymamalaundry.com at least 2 hours before your scheduled service.
Unattended Pick-up and Delivery
If you request that we leave your laundry unattended (e.g., on your porch, in a hallway, or in your foyer) or with a third party (e.g., with a doorman or a neighbor), we are not responsible for your laundry before we have picked it up or after we have dropped it off. You also agree that our records and photos of pick-up and drop-off times are true and accurate.
Allergies
We make every effort and follow best practices to sanitize equipment between clients, above and beyond what is typically experienced with wash and fold service. We’re kinda neat freaks. We use several options for laundry detergents for all our personal laundry customers. Many of these products are labeled as "hypoallergenic." However, we do wash clothes in sanitized washing machines, where other detergents may have been used, and it is possible that small amounts of other detergents, which may not be hypoallergenic, may not be completely rinsed out of these washing machines.
